What to see in APRIL…there’s more than wildflowers in Hopewell Big Woods!

One of the most exciting things to see for me …are the morel mushrooms! In 2020 we saw the first morel mushroom on April 17. Ideal conditions to find the morel mushrooms is daytime temperatures between 60-70 degrees and to have overnight temperatures consistently in the 50’s.

Morel mushrooms can be camouflaged in the leaf littler! Both morel mushrooms in the photos were found along the trail. This one above is a Yellow Morel.
